How to Make Rewards Work For Your Family!
What the Nudge Kids Reward System is and is NOT
1. We are not trying to create a system in which a child must earn everything in their lives.
2. Children should have a childhood. They should have fun activities that do not need to be earned.
The Nudge Reward system works by setting proper boundaries. Children need to be clear on what is ‘given’ or ‘part of their lives.’
For example, ‘given’ activities:
Weekly ice cream with Mom and Dad on Friday’s
Or a set weekly limit on iPad or TV time, 3 hours per week.
3. Anything beyond those defined activities need to be earned via the Nudge reward system It’s imperative that NO EXTRA REWARDS are given outside the predefined activities and Nudge rewards.
This will set appropriate boundaries and teach children delayed gratification.
For example, use Nudge Reward points for earned activities:
Ice cream on this Tuesday
Or an extra 2 hours of iPad time
